I may only have moved here nine years ago, but I do not want to leave. When I think about living somewhere else, it’s got a tacit “in Scotland” pegged on to the end of it. The thought of not just going to England to see family but of staying there, with a house and a job, is something I have nightmares about. I’ve never considered myself English. Sometimes, I’d say I was from Yorkshire. Sometimes, I’d say I was British. But neither label reflects who I am.

I live in Scotland. That’s who I am.

I very much agree with this. I was born in Hexham, Northumberland, and spent the first 11 years of my life moving around the country (I went to a boarding school in Yorkshire between the ages of 7 and 11 for some consistency). I came to Edinburgh when I was 11, and I'm now 32 (wow).

My wife is Scots -- very much so. When she was 11 she wrote her own manifesto for what she'd do as president of Scotland. She knows who she is. Myself? I say British, because I don't want to say English, and I can't legitimately say Scots, even though Scotland is the place that has defined me (okay, I got an excellent education in Yorkshire, but none of it defined my political attitude).

I've been watching how awful Westminster is for ages now. My parents (a farmer's daughter and an RAF navigator) are reformed ex-Tory supporters, so I went into Labour hating them for the wrong reasons and came out hating them for the right ones. I'd say it seems that the rate at which they're doing harm is just getting worse and worse, but having taken an interest in the development of the UK during the 20th century, I think it's been this way for a long time now. The spirit of '45 is long gone. If we can't vote them out, we need to kick them out.

I haven't really bothered following the campaigns, it's all just poo flinging right now, and character attacks, and I'm not interested in seeing more FUD. I'm voting Yes.
